Getting started

ninehills Kommunity is the online home for Kom, wherever you live. It brings together three things:

• Three apps: KomKal, XDFamily and RnCApp, built for our community. See The apps.
• Activities and contests: take part, send in an entry, and be judged fairly. See Contests.
• Reading: the RAMBLE in the JUNGLE writings and the textbook made from them. See Reading Ramble and The textbook.

What you can do without an account

• Read the news, Ramble and the textbook.
• Download the student textbook as a PDF.
• Find out about the apps and download their guides.
• Send us a message on the Contact page.

What needs an account

You need a free account to register for an activity or contest, to send in an entry, and (for teachers who have been approved) to open the textbook's teacher edition. See Your account.

Finding your way around

• The menu at the top has Apps, Activities, News, Ramble and Contact, and Log in and Join (or your name, once you're logged in).
• The bottom of every page has links to these help pages, the privacy notice, and our Facebook, WhatsApp and YouTube.

Times and dates

All times on the site are in West Africa Time (WAT), which is UTC+1 all year round. If you live somewhere else, work out the time where you are, especially for contest deadlines.

On a phone or a slow connection

The site works on phones and is mostly text, so it uses little data. The largest downloads are the PDFs (the student textbook is about 1 MB).
