Do I need an account to read Ramble or the textbook?
No. Reading the site and downloading the student textbook are open to everyone. An account is only for activities and contests.
Does it cost anything?
Accounts, reading and the student textbook are free. A contest may have an entry fee; if so, it's shown on the contest's page.
What time zone are the times in?
West Africa Time (WAT), which is UTC+1 all year. See Contests for working out a deadline where you live.
I didn't get the confirmation email.
Wait a few minutes and check your spam or promotions folder. Make sure you typed your email correctly. If it still hasn't come, tell us through the Contact page.
I forgot my password.
Use Forgot your password? on the Log in page. The link we email works once and for a limited time. See Your account.
Can I change my contest entry after sending it?
Yes, until the deadline. Open the contest, change your entry and press Update submission. After the deadline, entries can't be changed.
The contest says “Submissions closed”, but I thought there was still time.
Deadlines are in WAT, which may be ahead of your time. The contest page shows the exact date and time. If you think there's a mistake, tell us straight away through the Contact page.
Do the judges know whose entry they're scoring?
No. Judges see entries without names, numbered and in no particular order.
How do I get the teacher edition of the textbook?
Teachers can request it. It's reviewed personally. See The textbook.
A teacher-edition download link stopped working.
Each link works for about a minute. Go back to the Teacher edition page and press it again.
Is my website account used in the apps?
No. The apps don't use accounts. Your website account is only for this site.
Is there an Android version of the apps?
Where an app isn't on Google Play yet, you can join its Android beta from the app's page. See The apps.
How do I stop the textbook emails?
Use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of them. See Updates and unsubscribing.
How do I delete my account?
Email us from the address on your account. See Privacy.
Does the site work on a slow connection?
Yes. It's mostly text and works on phones. The student textbook PDF is about 1 MB; you can also read it page by page online.
